Stage 5 – Explore

Once the scope is fixed and the data has been collected, process mining algorithms are used to discover the actual business processes that are being executed. This step involves creating a visual representation of the processes, such as a flow chart or process map.

This exploration can be divided into 2 parts:

  1. The Process discovery: Once the data has been collected, process mining algorithms are used to discover the actual business processes that are being executed. This step involves creating a visual representation of the processes, such as a flow chart or process map. This part is typically realized by the Process Mining solution.
  2. The Process analysis: After the business processes have been discovered, they can be analyzed to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. This part leverages the Process Mining solution and is managed by the business process analysts themselves.
